His insanity has been coming on for the last 12 months gradually but has only assumed an acute form within the last 12 weeks. Since then he has become silent, cross and taciturn. His insanity was probably a cause and not a result of his giving up his situation. Would only mumble incoherently in reply to a question. Took his food with difficulty. Ordered Haust. Chloral HS. Ordered beef tea and bread and milk.
