Physical/Mental State at Examination: Moderate health and condition. Slight bruises on both arms. She is depressed and miserable. Burst into tears sobbing and moaning. Mental distress is very apparent and she is not able to give any account of herself at present.

Current Diagnosis: Depressive episode (F32.3)

Case Notes

1920 Feb 5 (copy) - Suffering from Melancholia. Depressed and apprehensive. Has delusions that her husband and doctor have been trying to poison her and states that her husband wants to get rid of her and that she has seen him in bed with another woman. She has delusions of persecution by other people and states that for some time she used to hear voices speaking to her.

15 - Does not improve. Depressed and deluded.

24 - Still depressed and deluded.

Mar 1 -The same.

Apr 1 - Depressed, restless at times.

Now accusing the nurses of poisoning her food.

8 - Has been restless and troublesome and difficult to control.

May 7 - She has been rather dirty in her habits lately and has been confined to bed with oedema and small ulcer on the left leg. Aug 5 - Mental condition has improved, delusions not so marked, more cheerful.

Able to employ herself in the Laundry.

Dec 15 - Finally discharged.
