She says her husband wants to murder her and is filthy. Her husband and his brother gave her a ticket to get her out of her home. Also her husband wants to get rid of her and is very cruel to her and the little girl. E O, husband, says: At times she is cruel to him and the little girl. She wandered away from home with her little girl for four nights and three days and for two nights both slept out of doors. Dr. Hugh Williams, Llanrwst, 6th July 1920.

Case Notes

1920 July 9 (copy) - Suffering from Melancholia. Depressed and apprehensive and is nervous and restless.

When spoken to it is difficult to get her to answer any questions but she admits most of the statements in the Reception Order. She was in a dirty condition when admitted. 12 - Condition unchanged.

24 - Does not improve.

Aug 2 - Still depressed but able to employ herself in the ward.

Sept 1-19 - No change. 1921 Jan 2 - Condition has improved and she is now able to employ herself. Inclined to be emotional and apprehensive at times.

Apr 2 - Much the same mentally.

June 13 (copy) - Suffering from Melancholia. Very depressed and apprehensive. She has grievances against her husband and states he has been cruel to her and her child. Emotional at times and has recently become very impulsive and struck another patient with a brush.

Oct 8 - No further change.

1922 Jan 5 - Improved on the whole and has been interviewed with a view to discharge, but she is rather depressed. Apr 5 - She has improved but still rather reserved.

June 9 (copy) - Suffering from Melancholia.

Depressed and self absorbed and still has grievances against her husband. At times emotional but not to the extent previously.

Progress is slow and I do not consider her well enough to be discharged. Sept 5 - No further change.

1923 Jan Still depressed and self absorbed. Apr 5 - Has not improved further. Oct 5 - Still depressed and self absorbed. Keeps mostly to herself.

Nov 24 - Discharged on trial. Dec 31 - Finally discharged.
